Course Overview

Future Learning Mini-Stay At Home programmes are project-based, technology-enhanced and use active and authentic learning activities. These projects enable our students to explore the world around them and articulate the aspects that most interest them. It is very important to us that students feel that they have encountered a different culture whether it be online or offline. All our projects are about students engaging with the world around them.

Technology enhanced means that the students work with our tech tools on a digital product in which they describe what they have learned. These digital products can include: presentation slides, blogs, interactive maps, and/or videos.

When part of the project, the video is a scripted scene, which the students prepare and practice during lesson time.

Over the course of their mini-stay programme students use digital tools to perform online research, checking ideas, and finding visual material. Internet research is targeted, time-limited and is used by students to check and add to what they already know.

The idea behind the digital products is to allow the students to create something for themselves that they can publish and show to parents and teachers.

Our online Mini-Stay At Home English courses are designed for students from B1 (intermediate) to C1 (advanced) levels who want to develop their ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in English through technology for personal, academic and social purposes, appropriate to your level. These courses have three elements:

  • Live interactive sessions with the teacher and a group of other international students to introduce project topic and language focus, set tasks, answer students’ questions and organise interactive communicative practice between them.
  • Collaborative project tasks, which are completed by the students working together in pairs or small groups at set times with the teacher available to answer queries and make suggestions and give feedback where needed. Project conclusions will be presented in the live session at the end of the each week.
  • Individual language tasks, which can be done at a time that suits you during the day and your progress will be monitored by the teacher and additional work suggested in areas needed.
