Mindfulness and Yoga in the Classroom aims to teach participants basic, effective mindfulness and yoga techniques that they may apply to promote their own and their students’ well-being. The topic of the day will be covered through a combination of exercises and practical tasks each day. Participants will learn yoga positions with efficient breathing techniques to relax the mind, as well as mindfulness tips to share with their students.
Teachers on this 5 day, 20 hour programme will take part in tutorials and learn yoga methods as daily subjects are developed, as well as course and lesson preparation and group discussions. On two afternoons teachers will embark on local cultural activities accompanied by their Future Learning teacher giving them the opportunity to learn about Irish culture and heritage during their stay.
It is important to note that Mindfulness and Yoga in the Classroom is only available at Future Learning’s Athlone Campus and takes place on the following dates this summer:

Primary and Secondary Teachers seeking to learn techniques to calm the mind and body suitable to use in a classroom setting. These techniques can reduce the negative effects of stress and increase students’ ability to stay engaged, helping them stay on track academically and avoid behaviour problems.

Teachers who successfully complete both Mindfulness and Yoga in the Classroom and Mindfulness and Meditation in the Classroom over 2 weeks will receive an internationally recognised certification from Yoga Alliance Professionals UK.
My course at school was not just to learn a new language, but to learn new cultures, people and do things I had never done before. All of this is a very interesting concept that made me learn much more than I expected. I can say that my time at Future Learning was a great experience for me!
