Course Introduction

This course is Future Learning’s Teacher Training Course that aims to teach simple, effective meditation or yoga techniques which participants can use to support their own well-being and that of their students. Each day’s topic will be covered through a combination of exercises and practical activities. Participants will learn to meditate for a short time without guidance as well as to prepare and lead a short meditation suitable for their learners or learn yoga poses with effective breathing techniques to calm the mind.

This programme offers participants the opportunity to take part in tutorials and group meditations with the development of daily topics as well as course and lesson planning sessions and group discussions.

Learner Profile

Primary and Secondary Teachers seeking to learn techniques to calm the mind and body suitable to use in a classroom setting. These techniques can reduce the negative effects of stress and increase students’ ability to stay engaged, helping them stay on track academically and avoid behaviour problems.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have

  • learned simple practical meditation and yoga techniques for use in a language classroom
  • developed a toolkit of simple meditation techniques to support their own and their students’ well-being
  • become confident in using short simple meditation/yoga sequences with their students
  • understood how these techniques can help us to be more present with our students, and create a happier class atmosphere and better learning outcomes, by improving class relationships, attention and helping students be better prepared for learning.

Mindfulness in the Classroom

I will continue to do meditation in my private life and also at school with my students. I think it will be useful for all of us living in this hectic world.
