Future Learning (FL), is an exciting and innovative English language school located in Dublin, Ireland. FL is the first language school to market who solely teaches through technology.
FL was founded by David Ganly in October 2013, a second level teacher of Engineering and Computer Studies and a former Centre Manager with ATC Bray and IH Dublin for a combined ten years. David has extensive experience in the areas of international education and educational technology and continues to advise educational institutes on the best practices and approaches for introducing technology.
FL has recently appointed Peter Lahiff as a director. Peter has been involved in FL since the outset working on the development, implementation and management of our technology enhanced summer language courses for young learners. Peter is an experienced course designer, teacher trainer and academic manager who has worked in the English language teaching for over 15 years. He established Dublin’s first Trinity Cert. TESOL programme and is a founder of ELT Ireland, a network of Irish-based English Language Teaching professionals.
When FL launched its focus was to provide top quality and unique summer programmes. Since the outstanding success of year one FL has now become a recognised name and has expanded into the UK, where a second centre opened in Canterbury in 2016.
FL offers the combination of high quality host family & residential accommodation for all of its programmes.
On top of having two very affordable summer programmes, the FL School in Dublin is one of the most technologically advanced buildings in the country. The school was opened in 2010 and has outstandings facilities which include 100 Megabyte Broadband & WiFi, can cater for up to 10,000 mobile devices, many specialist rooms, an adjoining sports complex and top of the range modern classroom facilities.
FL has confidently classed itself as being different, innovating and exciting and some of the factors which make this a reality include – paperless lessons, the use of 1:1 tablet devices, all students develop an individual ePortfolio, strong link between lessons and activities, high end activities, app development lessons, web design modules and the list goes on.
Why Future Learning?
We have realized since our outset that there is a growing need for a change within summer English language courses, most notably the teaching style within the classroom and how important it is that we adapt to teenagers needs and not just our own.
It is also important to remember that students are now arriving to Ireland and UK each year with evidently improved levels of English and they now have increased expectations on the use of daily technologies both inside and outside the classroom
Inside the 2017 FL brochure and throughout this website you can see how we are different to the traditional language schools eg. we have a clear focus on technology enhanced learning, using online platforms to communicate, harnessing the power of mobile technology, linking our lesson content to activities. The best thing is that our courses cater for all levels and for those with previous and no experience using technology.
We would like you to take the time to read through our current 2017 brochure, our dedicated High School brochure and the 2017 Erasmus+ brochure. We also have lots of great information and photographs on our FL Facebook page. In the meantime we look forward to answering any questions which you may have.
