Programme Introduction

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the problem solving process and basic programming concepts. The programme is divided into two modules. The first module covers block coding, while the second allows students to dive deeper into programming using either Phyton or Java.

MODULE 1: INTRO TO CODING (WEEK 1)

Students learn through solving logic-based problems and working in teams on the creation and programming of a real electronic product from circuit boards and sensors or a robot. Students demonstrate their understanding by creating a Google Slides presentation describing their team’s prototype product and how they used basic programming skills to solve the problems, get it working, and what their role in the process was.

MODULE 2: INTRO TO JAVA/PHYTON (WEEK 2)

Students are introduced to Java and Python languages. They then work in teams on completing tasks in their chosen programming language. The tasks prepare the students for the final challenge which is to create a simple programme, explain what problem it solves and what steps they took on the development of the same.
